Safety Rules & Regulations

These form part of our T&C and must be observed at all times.

  1. NEVER POINT A FIREARM AT A PERSON OR ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO SHOOT - No matter how sure you are that the firearm is unloaded, NEVER point at anyone. Breaking this rule will result in immediate removal from the range.
  2. ALWAYS PROVE A FIREARM IS UNLOADED - If you pick up a firearm, pass it to someone or have it passed to you, check it is unloaded, even if you have just seen someone else check.
  3. DO NOT LOAD A FIREARM UNTIL YOU ARE AT THE FIRING POINT - A firearm does not need to be loaded anywhere else. Magazines may be loaded in other locations but must not be inserted until at the firing point.
  4. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO SHOOT - Don't touch the trigger until your target is in your sights and you are ready to shoot.
  5. DO NOT PICK UP A FIREARM OR AMMUNITION WITHOUT ASKING - Never touch or pick up a firearm without asking. You have no idea of the state of the firearm or it may even be in the process of being serviced and parts may fall out.
  6. DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL OR DRUGS - You will not be allowed on the range if you are suspected of drinking alcohol or taking drugs.
  1. DO NOT REMOVE AMMUNITION FROM THE RANGE - It is a severe criminal offence to remove ammunition from the range unless you hold a valid licence for that specific ammunition.
  2. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU SHOOT - Be aware of what you are aiming at and what's behind it. If you pull the trigger, you are responsible for whatever the bullet hits.
  3. BE AWARE OF GUNPOWDER RESIDUE - Although the range is cleaned regularly, there will be spent powder on surfaces. Shooting from a kneeling position or resting on a table may mark your clothing.
  4. H&S - Hearing protection must be worn at all times. In an emergency, a long whistle blow will be heard; place the firearm on a safe surface and stand back. Eye protection is available upon request.
  5. DATA - I understand the need for OSA to keep records of my attendance for police verification. We may inform you of upcoming events, but you can unsubscribe at any time.
  6. SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES - We are obliged to notify Thames Valley Police and provide them with your personal details should your use of firearms raise any suspicion.
